It comes from farms in southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul). It is tanned in Brazil, without using dangerous or prohibited chemicals. VEJA uses conventional dyes that comply with regulations. Special attention is paid to water usage during the tanning process. Additionally, the suede is coated with PFC-free hydrophobic oils to protect the sneakers from light rain. The suede is Silver certified by the Leather Working Group.
