First designed in 1983 by president Dame Margaret Barbour, the Beaufort is one of Barbour's most iconic waxed jackets, featuring the signature full-width lined rear pocket. With removable hood and lining, the Beaufort is a year-round classic. Made from durable 170g medium weight waxed cotton, with Velcro wind cuffs and the distinctive studded corduroy collar, the Beaufort offers good protection in any weather. The relaxed fit jacket features a sturdy two-way Barbour zip and a front closure to shield the zipper from the elements with metal buttons, two generous bellows pockets and two moleskin handwarmer pockets at the waist for everyday practicality. Inspired by French shooting jackets, the Beaufort is shorter in length than traditional jackets and features a large nylon-lined rear pocket. While older Beaufort models use Dress Gordon tartan, the modern Beaufort is lined with Classic Barbour tartan, based on the tartan of the Barbour family's county of origin, Ayrshire.
